At The Golden Boot we love our English made shoes. In and amongst a sea of brown brogues stands out the Jeffery~West’s and this is why we enjoy selling the brand so much. They never seem to follow fashion too closely and almost seem to be exempt from it, yet when wearing a pair of Jeffery West you give a nod to trend yet the observer will know you aren’t influenced by it!
We have a very loyal following for the brand and decided to reward our customers with a very special collaborative evening with Guy West joint owner of Jeffery~West.
Customers were indulged with wine and cider from Biddenden Vineyard, delicious canapes from the The Mulberry Tree and Maidstone’s finest beer Goachers. It was great to see a few familiar faces from local businesses which included the jewelers Head & Hart who kindly offered a selection of Stephen Webster’s jewellery for our team to wear for the evening. The band was great too.
It was a fun evening with lots of interest in our Jeffery West collection, especially the limited edition designs brought by Guy for the evening.
A big thank you to everyone involved !
A feedback from a customer:
Hi Golden Boot,
Thank you for a very pleasant evening in your store last night.
Your staff were, as always, charm personified. It was also pleasure to meet the “family” behind the brand, it goes to show that attitude, enthusiasm and quality of service, still works as well as ever. An age old adage that is too often ignored nowadays, unfortunately too late for a lot of brands. But it does sort the wheat from the chaff.
Good Luck Golden Boot, and well done.
Our Breast Cancer Awareness week instore was a roaring success! Saturday 20th was the conclusive day to our Breast Cancer Awareness fund raising week. Staff and customers had a great time with everyone getting behind this worthwhile campaign. The limited edition pink shoes and bags from Peter Kaiser were snapped up. Customers were treated to special cupcakes from fairydustcupcakes.co.uk and a glass of Biddenden Vineyards sparkling wine.
In total we raised £263.50. The Peter Kaiser shoes will remain on Sale for a limited period and we will continue to sell our pink bootshapers with 50p going to Breast cancer research.
Thank you everyone for getting involved and very special thank you to those who bought a pair of the pink shoes… enjoy wearing them!
Take a quick look at some of the photos from the day
Here are some photos from Saturday:
I was prompted to write this article as I was a little surprised as to how many customers we had to phone this morning to tell them their refurbished shoes had been returned from the factory and were ready for them to collect.
All I hear is grumbles about the decline of British manufacturing however this seems to be the contrary in English shoe making. Demand is at an all time high. Their export business to the Far East and Russia is booming however they are also seeing a steady increase in the UK. At The Golden Boot our biggest growth in our men’s business has been the English made shoes. So how can it be that in tough times our most expensive shoes are selling the best? It’s got to be the quality of the product and the value for money. Often when you speak to customers who have had an English made pair of shoes they will proudly tell you how long they have had them and how many times they have had them re-heeled and repaired, it’s almost like a badge of honour.
At my local pub I’m often having shoes thrust at me claiming that they had brought these shoes from my father back in the 80’s and that they are still going strong, often stronger than some of the wearers! This is truly testament to how durable these English made shoes are.
Customers are often unaware how much work that goes into making these Goodyear Welt shoes, if you have a few spare minutes, take a look at our article showing a recent Loake factory visit.
To finish my prophesising about English made shoes have taken a few snaps of the shoes that have been repaired by the manufacturer and have come back looking like new.
Geox is always popular with boys and we have fantastic new styles ready and waiting to begin AW12.
Geox Elvis G is a stylish choice of casual wear for the weekend. It’s a good choice for the fashion conscious as it is following the high top trainer trend and the chunky rubber sole is hard wearing and tough.
Van Dal have introduced a very clever range of little accessories which can add a little sparkle to your classic court shoes.
The pretty shoe clips are simply attached to the front of the design with a clip that is very similar to a clip on earring fastening.
At The Golden Boot we stock three Van Dal shoe clips and here are some suggestions on how to wear the jewel trims.
Gabor Bali in black patent is a pretty court shoe. The wider fitting shoe has a small kitten heel and almond toe making it a very elegant but simple design. We think that Van Dal Alicia would be a perfect match to Gabor Bali. The black satin tailored bow is trimmed with tiny diamantes along the centre.
Geox Marian in black leather is a classic court shoe with patented breathable technology which keeps feet at a healthy temperature. The platform sole makes the high heel a little easier to wear and Van Dal Mia would compliment the Geox shoe perfectly. Mia is a chunky trim made from jet crystals .
Van Dal Ilminster in Navy leather is a very smart court shoe with a square shaped toe. The shoe is an EE wide fitting and to add a little glamor to the style you could use the Tatiana trim. The silver beads suit the navy leather and shimmer in the light.
The days of Geox being just a kids trainer brand are long gone. At The Golden Boot we stock a comprehensive range of their childrens footwear including school shoes, trainers, sandals and boots. With Winter fast approaching we thought we would focus on their girls boot collection.
For AW12 Geox boot collection for girls mixes classic Italian styling with fun designs that appeal to fashionable young girls.
Geox Olivia T is a good casual design that you could wear with either jeans or with skirts. The trendy bike boot style is practical for the winter months, as it has a sturdy sole and superior grip. The fur trim which peeps out the top of the boot adds a cute cozy feel and would look great with thick cable cord tights.
Ochre Blue is new to The Golden Boot, we have introduced a comprehensive range of their leather accessories and handbags. The brand celebrates exquisite leather craft and they have a love for vintage style and intricate patterns and embossed details. Here are some of our favourites from the collection –Ochre Blue purses and wallets are beautifully produced using soft leathers and delicate stitched decorations. The practical designs are a good size and have lots of design features that will make organising your purse easy. A luxury leather miniature bag, The Ochre Blue Callie Pouch could be used for make up, brushes or stationary. The buttery soft leather design has been embossed with a tag and a contrasting colour piece beneath. The bag is fastened with a zip and would make a lovely gift idea, remember that we offer a free gift wrapping service.
The Cleo bag follows the nostalgic school satchel trend for AW12. The beautiful leather bag can be worn across the body or as a stylish clutch and is the perfect size to carry your everyday essentials. The bag has a magnetic catch with a phone pocket and organised internal sections.
Glittery shoes are set to be a key trend for AW12, so forget diamond and jewellery, add some sparkle to your winter wardrobe with Rapisardi Pome.
The elegant Italian sandal makes great party wear as it has a cushioned sole for all night comfort and the glitter finish will update your party dress too!
The classic black glittery version would compliment most outfits, you could even wear Rapisardi Pome with soft skinny jeans and a formal top for a more relaxed party outfit.
The multi coloured choice mixes blue, black and silver straps which all shimmer in the light. Wear with a classic black dress or pick out the blue and grey.
