In search of something different

Meet James…

We caught up with James, the Hotel Manager and longtime friend of The Golden Boot. His connection to Morzine began at age 16. After years of returning to ski and seeking a new adventure, he fortuitously left his career in financial services just before the financial crash. “Luck,” he says, “rather than judgement.” He followed his instincts to the Alps, and today, James is the heart of the hotel—creating unforgettable experiences that keep guests coming back year after year.

What Makes Hotel Coutettaz Special?

“The building itself is stunning, with original stone walls and crisp white shutters overlooking the mountains. Inside, the boutique rooms blend rustic romance with refined English charm—think indulgent fabrics, original features, and beautiful bathrooms.

But a place is nothing without its people—and ours are exceptional. From talented chefs crafting heavenly breakfasts to warm, knowledgeable staff offering personalised ski advice, we quietly go above and beyond to make every stay unforgettable.”

Why wear Sebago?

“There’s a quiet confidence to Sebago shoes. They’re not flashy. They don’t scream for attention Their designs are understated yet unmistakable.

I wear them because they match everything—from jeans and a T-shirt to chinos and a blazer. They’re the kind of shoes you can wear on a Saturday afternoon or to a casual meeting. They don’t go out of style because they were never chasing it to begin with.”
