We’re thrilled to share our newly refurbished online and in-store shopping experience with you in our Children’s Department, After many months of planning, designing and building, we’ve finally opened our doors to the brand new Children’s shop, and it’s more cheery and playful than ever before!
Throughout the re-fitting process, we have spent months reflecting upon our brand values, what the Children’s shop means to our customers and to our staff who work on the shop floor. Lucy is a fitting expert in the Children’s Department and has kindly shared her fond memories of our special shop…
“In June 2000 my family and I were due to go to Cornwall with my grandparents in a few weeks. My Parents thought it was best to take me to The Golden Boot to get some shoes so that I could venture outside as I was just finding my feet and beginning to take my first steps.
Upon arriving into the shop, we were greeted by a shop assistant, Sue, who measured my feet and fitted me with a pair of pretty yet functional T-bar moccasins called ‘Sugarplum’. They were some of the softest shoes on the market and they allowed me to move round freely and independently. Whilst my shoes were being fitted I watched the trains and toddled about the shop whilst holding onto my Mum’s hand. I then had a picture taken on the polaroid camera where I shyly smiled. The photo developed, it was put in a keepsake holder along with a keepsake box that my Mum has treasured ever since.
19 years later I am now working in the Children’s department alongside Sue and the rest of the amazing team! I am now able to offer a similar first shoe experience with young children today. Although the system has evolved the core values have remained. The Golden Boot has designed a unique, fun, engaging and memorable experience for everyone. Working there now, I have realised that the excitement that comes with a child getting their first pair of shoes is not just for them, but the parents, family members and for the staff too!”
