The best repair by the people who made them

repairs_bannerAt The Golden Boot we offer a repair service for all our handmade shoes Barker, Loake, Joseph Cheaney, Jeffery West and R.M Williams. This involves the shoes being sent back to the manufacturer to be refurbished i.e. long sole, heel, linings and upper re-dressing.

If any shoes requiring repairs are being posted to us there will be an additional carriage fee of £15.00 to cover postage costs alongside the repairs individual cost below. Any shoes that have been repaired at other repairers the manufacturer will not carry out a repair due to it not having its original sole unit. If it is just the heels that have been done the repair can still be carried out.

When sending a repair please send to our address below and put F.T.O mens department, document inside your requirements and customer details. Please follow additional guidance below which covers each individual manufacturer’s guidelines.

  • Same rules apply with care of shoe trees and creams as mentioned below. However R.M Williams have their own care equipment i.e. lustre polish creams and the saddle dressing to stop the boots from cracking which we would always recommend you to use in store.
  • Please note that the repairers cannot perform miracles and the maintenance is down to the customer, if any of the boots coming in for repair have tears in the leather, the repair may not be possible due to the leather being stretched over the last and it could incur more tears.

Top Tips: Depending on how well the shoes are looked after, there can normally be 3-4 repairs the shoes will with stand. In store we would always recommend the use of shoe trees and creams to pro long the life of the shoe/boot. Perspiration is what destroys the stitching in handmade shoes therefore natural cedar wood trees absorb the moisture and push up any creases and help when being repaired. A natural soft shoe cream (not wax) prevents any cracking of the leather and acts as a moisturiser, wax polish will just dry and crack the leather due to the turpentine in the product. All aftercare helps when coming to get your shoes repaired as if not in a suitable condition the repair may not be possible.

*Please note when Loake and Barker have factory holidays please allow up to 6 weeks for your repair to be back with us, we will inform you if there is any extra delays as best we can. Any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
